The Story
It Started at the Bottom of Snowdon.
At 15 years old in 2019, I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. A few months later, on a pre-booked holiday to Wales, I was too ill to even walk to the train station at the mountain's base. More than the diagnosis and the hospital visits, this moment felt like my health was being stolen from me.
In 2020 I went back and walked up to the summit; but it felt closer to regaining lost time than conquering the illness.
Seven years later, I'm sharing the strength and perseverance required to push through a Crohn's diagnosis to fundraise for Crohn's and Colitis UK. In 2027, I will return to the bottom of Snowdon. This time to set off on the UK National Three Peaks, ascending each with the weight to perform the first ever powerlifting totals of the squat, the bench press, and the deadlift at every summit.
The weight I lift at the summit isn't the full picture. It's the weight I'm carrying for every step to get there.
